Hello 5th Grade students! Welcome to 5th Grade English. This is a wiki page on which I will post homework assignments and upload important documents. I will review your homework in class, but please check the wiki page if you have any questions. Please email me at lpeale@latinpcs.org if you have any questions. Let's have a great year!

Tutorial with Ms. Peale will be held on Thursdays. We will meet in Mrs. Mujal's room at 3:20.

Week of September 18th:.

For Tuesday, September 19th:
1.Write a paragraph describing your life as a speller. The first line of the paragraph should be "I am a speller." Put an adjective on that line. Then, write 3 or 4 describing why are that kind of speller. Include details like whether you have been in a spelling bee, how you study for spelling quizzes or whether you use a dictionary to look up words.
2. Bring an IR book.

For Wednesday, September 20th:
1. In your creative writing journal, write a story beginning with the following line: "I found myself alone in the woods." Write for 20 minutes and then stop.

For Thursday, September 21st:
1. Find a passage from a book that you know well that shows one of the Notice and Note signposts (annotations). Write the passage on a piece of paper. Unless the part of the passage that shows the signpost. Then, identify the signpost and answer the question.

For Friday, September 22nd:
1. Begin reading and annotating chapters= 1 of My Side of the Mountain. You must make at least two annotations per chapter.

For Monday, September 23rd:
1. Read and annotate chapters 2 and 3 of My Side of the Mountain. You must make at least two Notice and Note annotations per chapter.


Week of September 11th:.

For Tuesday, September 12th:
1. Bring two books (An independent book and Ninth Ward).

For Wednesday, September 13th:
1. Fill out the character sheet for Ninth Ward. You will need the book to do your homework.

For Thursday, September 14th:
1. Write a list of all the possible conflicts (both internal and external).

For Friday, September 15th:
1. Quiz on Ninth Ward and Escape from Escape from Mr Lemoncello's Library. Study your story maps.

For Monday, September 18th:
1. Bring independent reading book on Monday.

For Tuesday, September 5th:
1. Work on your project.

For Wednesday, September 6th:
1. Work on your project. Please have materials in class on Thursday: black binder, 5 black dividers, and black folder.

For Thursday, September 7th:
1. Review Ninth Ward

For Friday, September 8th:
1. What is your answer and what is your evidence worksheet?

For Monday, September 11th:
1. Review Ninth Ward
2. Bring Ninth Ward to class
3. Bring an independent book to class.

For Monday, August 28th
1. Be ready to talk about Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library on Tuesday. Please take this weekend to review the book
2. Complete the reading inventory.

For Tuesday, August 29th
1. List the major events of the book. You may not have more than 12 events. Your first event should start at the beginning of the book and the last event should be at the end of the book.
2. Please have materials in class on Thursday: black binder, 5 black dividers, and black folder.

For Wednesday, August 30th
1. Work on your independent book project. The assignment is attached below.

1. Work for 20 minutes on your independent book project. It is attached above.

1. Work on your independent book project. It is due on the 6th. It is attached above.

For Tuesday, September 5th:
1. Finish up your independent book project. It is due tomorrow.

For Thursday, August 24th:
1.Read and annotate Why I Never Ran Away from Home through page 55.

For Friday, August 25th: Please do not work for more than 20 minutes. If you work 20 minutes and do not finish, draw a line across the paper and write me a note that you were not able to finish the homework.
1. Finish the story.
2. Answer the questions in complete sentences.
